This townhouse sat vacant on a prominent corner in Pittsburgh’s Deutschtown neighborhood, waiting to be restored. Over its long history, the boarded-up structure was subject to numerous insensitive renovations, including being split into several apartments. Water-damaged flooring and poor masonry repairs added to the challenge of giving this building a new life. RBF CoLab provided careful guidance and consultation on the appropriate layout, materials, and restoration techniques required to restore this home and site while benefitting the surrounding neighborhood.
The Allegheny Inn now welcomes guests and neighbors to enjoy its original details as they arrive. Visitors love to spend time in the modest side garden, watching the busy street life go by.
